1 teen dead, 3 injured in shooting and assault incident in Lakewood

A 17-year-old boy died of his injuries in the shooting and assault incident, police said

Lakewood police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that left one teenager dead and three other people injured, police said.

Three of the victims were shot in the incident and one was injured in an assault, according to Lakewood police.

Officers responded to several reports of fired shots at 4:15 a.m. at West Florida Avenue and South Yarrow Street, according to a news release. Two of the people who were shot were found at the scene and taken to a hospital for treatment and another gunshot victim and the assault victim were found later and went to hospitals for treatment.

Police don’t have suspect information available for release, they said.

Lakewood police closed off West Florida Avenue between West Florida Drive and South Zephyr Street, and South Yarrow Street at West Arkansas Avenue during the investigation.
