Two men who died after a shooting on the grounds of a Colorado Springs school June 29 have been identified.
The El Paso County coroner’s office identified a man who died at the scene as Kevin Santana-Villa, 18 of Colorado Springs, the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a news release Thursday. A man who died at the hospital was Diego Cruz-Aceves, 22, of Colorado Springs, police said.
The two men were involved with a shooting in a field at the Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy about 4 a.m. June 29, police said. Officers found one man dead on a track on the school campus, according to the police department. A second man with serious wounds was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Preliminary information indicates that two groups of people were involved in an altercation on the track when shots were fired. No other information was available Thursday.
