
Mostly clear skies and hot temperatures are expected in Denver Wednesday until the afternoon when there is a good chance for rain and thunderstorms.
The high temperature in downtown Denver is expected to peak at around 95 degrees, said the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected mostly after 5 p.m. At night, there is a 40 percent chance for rain, thunder and lightning. Wind gusts up to 20 mph are possible.

There’s a better chance for afternoon rain and thunderstorms on Thursday, when the high temperature will reach about 88 degrees, the NWS said. The low temperature will be about 62 degrees.
On Friday, Denver will be back up into the lower 90s. There’s a 30 percent chance for afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms.
The best chance for rain this week will be Saturday when rain and thunderstorms are likely, the NWS said. The chance for precipitation is 60 percent. It will warm up to about 90 degrees.
Slightly cooler temperatures are expected Sunday, when the high is expected to reach about 87 degrees. There’s a slight chance for afternoon rain and thunderstorms, the NWS said.
