Hot temperatures are forecast for the Denver metro area Tuesday before a few isolated rain showers cool things off a bit in the afternoon.

The high temperature Tuesday is expected to reach about 95 degrees in downtown Denver, said the National Weather Service in Boulder.

There’s a 20 percent chance for rain and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

A few stronger storms are possible over the northeast corner of Colorado.

Afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday, when temperatures won’t be nearly as hot. The chance for rain increases from 40 percent in the afternoon to 50 percent in the evening. The high temperature Wednesday is expected to be around 89 degrees, the NWS said.

Thunderstorms and rain are more likely on Thursday and Friday, forecasters said. The chance for stormy weather is 60 percent on both days. The high temperature is forecast to reach 89 degrees on Thursday and Friday, the NWS said.

Rain and thunderstorms are also possible on the weekend, when the high temperatures will reach about 90 degrees on Saturday and 89 on Sunday, the NWS said.
