Washington State football coach Mike Leach gives his breakdown of the battle of Pac-12 mascots, and his presser on the topic is an instant classic.
Leach jumps right in talking about the mythical powers and the Sun Devil from Arizona State.
The coach is blunt about Arizona and Washington. The Wildcats are out, and the Huskies have no chance.
Leach then goes on the say the UCLA Bruin is a formidable contender, as well as the other bear up at Cal.
Up next is Stanford and the tree. “Well, that thing is going to get chopped down,” according to Leach. One might think Oregon and the Ducks have a shot. Not Leach. He thinks they might get bored and fly away from the battle.
The Beavers from Oregon State? “We’ll see how long Beaver can hold his breath.”
The USC Trojans and the Utah Utes are similar, as Leach wants to know if they are on horseback and if they are armed with a bow and arrow. That wasn’t enough for the coach, though. He even inquired whether the Ute might have traded up for a rifle.
“If that Ute has a rifle, then there are some definite problems,” Leach said.
Now comes the “beast” with the Colorado and Ralphie the Buffalo.
“A buffalo is gonna be pretty hard to tangle with,” Leach said. “A buffalo is utterly outstanding.”
After watching his battle breakdown, the Buffs seem to rank pretty high on Leach’s list.
He then jumps in to talk about his Cougars at the end and how they will find a way to win the battle, being as they are clear-minded and crafty.
Have to be honest, though. It seems the coach likes the Buffs. Check out his
Mike Leach is incredible. I love this guy.
