The cadets at the Air Force Academy have the best college football venue in the state of Colorado.
Set on the north end of Colorado Springs, Falcon Stadium sits at 6,621 feet elevation and can be seen from I-25.
Being on a military academy campus is special and has a different feel than the venues at Colorado, Colorado State and Northern Colorado. The cadets at Air Force have a set of core values that all members must follow, “Integrity First. Service Before Self. Excellence in All We Do.” Those core values can be felt while on the grounds of the academy.
Falcon Stadium was built back in 1962 and was originally going to be a football-only venue. The classic stadium also hosts lacrosse matches as well as non-sporting events. The biggest and most prestigious of those events is the annual Academy graduation that numerous presidents have spoken at.
The next home game for the Air Force is Oct. 12 when they play host to Fresno State for a Mountain West Conference game. Get out and experience it for yourself. The flyovers are worth the price of admission.
Falcon Stadium will kick off 2020 with a big event when the Colorado Avalanche come to town and host the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 15, 2020, for the NHL Stadium Series outdoor game.
Let’s just hope the fighter jets are still fired up for a flyover that is sure to be unforgettable.
