Summer may be over, but don’t tell Denver weather.
Temperatures in the metro area on Friday are expected to reach 79 degrees with plenty of sunshine, a full 10 degrees above normal for this time of the year, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
With the abnormal heat comes a high fire danger over the higher terrain. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from noon until 7 p.m. in the foothills, mountains and high valleys, NWS said, with wind gusts up to 50 mph.
The weather service urged people to avoid activities that cause open flames or sparks and to be prepared to move quickly if there’s smoke or fire.
