Denverites this week will experience the diversity of fall weather in Colorado where temperatures are predicted to drop nearly 50 degrees in a 24-hour period and snow could follow warm and sunny days.

A frost advisory remained over Denver, Colorado Springs and much of the eastern plains early Monday morning. Temperatures in Denver were predicted to rise to a high near 75 degrees Monday with a light wind, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The dry, warm weather will increase the danger of fires in the mountains.

Weather is expected to remain warm and sunny through Wednesday afternoon, including a predicted high of 80 degrees on Tuesday. But temperatures are predicted to plummet below freezing Wednesday night, when rain could turn into Denver’s first snow shower of the season.

That snow, which forecasters say could be heavy at times, is expected to continue through Thursday night before temperatures start to climb again as the weekend approaches.
