Child sex crime suspect who allegedly ran from deputies in Jefferson County is now in custody

A suspect wanted in a child sex crime case in Jefferson County has been taken into custody.

On Wednesday the sheriff’s office said it was looking for 32-year-old Michael Anthony Simms on suspicion of internet luring of a child and attempted sex assault on a child.

Deputies searched in southern Jefferson County in the area of West Chatfield Avenue and South Pierce Street after the suspect fled on foot, the sheriff’s office said.

On Thursday authorities said Simms has been located and taken into custody.
