
Denver, get ready to see a lot of Michael Bloomberg on your TV screens.
The billionaire former mayor of New York City, who’s expected to enter the Democratic presidential primary race soon, purchased ads on broadcast TV stations across the country Friday, including in Denver.
His new campaign committee into the ad buys for next week in at least 32 states across the country — a one-week record for broadcast TV ad buys, . The previous record of $24 million was set by former President Barack Obama.
The Denver market is set to receive as much as $718,000 of Bloomberg’s ad spending across several stations, according to an order form filed Friday with the Federal Communications Commission by KWGN-Channel 2.
A minute-long ad is set to run from Monday through Dec. 3, according to FCC filings.
KWGN accounts for just $35,900, with $102,900 reserved on KDVR-Channel 31, the Fox affiliate, $181,350 on KUSA-Channel 9 and $196,100 on KCNC-Channel 4. The buys ranged from two dozen spots on KDVR to 122 on KCNC, across several time slots during the day.
The Denver ad buys appeared to still be underway Friday afternoon.
Bloomberg formed his presidential campaign committee Thursday, but he has not formally announced that he will enter the crowded race for the Democratic nomination. Separately, he that he planned to spend $100 million on a digital ad campaign targeting President Donald Trump, a Republican.
