Denverites most likely won’t be getting a white Christmas on Wednesday, but there’s a slight chance of snow mixed in with rain showers in the evening, though it probably won’t be sticking around. The mountains, however, are a different story.

The Denver forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a higher near 52 degrees, with calm winds around 6 mph in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The slight chance of rain and show showers is expected before 7 p.m., with the low around 25 degrees and calm winds up to 5 mph.

The weather service’s hazardous weather outlook predicts snow showers throughout the mountains into the evening, up to about 4 inches, with the Rabbit Ears Pass area receiving up to 7 inches. Roads are expected to be slick.

The Front Range and easter plains could also see some snow this afternoon and evening, with heavier snowfall over the eastern plains for an inch of snow and slippery roads, according to the weather service. Snow accumulation will likely be light if there’s any at all.

Thursday is expected mostly sunny skies with a high near 45 degrees and a low near 24 degrees in Denver, according to the weather service. Light snow could continue in the mountains Thursday, with a stronger storm possible Friday and Saturday.
