Democratic presidential contender Mike Bloomberg will circle back to the Denver area Saturday as the self-funded billionaire’s campaign works to build support ahead of the Colorado primary.

Bloomberg is running for president in 2020 and was endorsed by Sullivan, whose son Alex was killed during 2012's Aurora theater shooting.

The former New York City mayor made Aurora one of his first stops after he joined the race late last year, visiting in December to lay out his national plan to reduce gun violence. This time, he is coming to Denver for the opening of his campaign’s Denver office in Lower Downtown. Doors are set to open for the public event at 11 a.m., his campaign said.

The Bloomberg campaign has leased the recently vacated Patagonia outdoor-wear store at 1431 15th St.

Unique among the candidates, Bloomberg is largely skipping the earliest nominating contests to focus on the batch of states with primaries on March 3, dubbed Super Tuesday. He has poured millions of dollars into TV and digital ads in Colorado, and his campaign has hired the largest state-level staff, eclipsing well-organized liberal candidates Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, both U.S. senators.
