Colorado guard Tyler Bey, right, shoots a three-point basket over Southern California guard Daniel Utomi in an NCAA college basketball game Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 in Los Angeles.

It’s been four years since the Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team last went to the NCAA Tournament, but if national bracketologists are to be believed, this may be CU’s best squad in decades.

The seeding system for the tournament began in 1978 and the Buffs have never been higher than a No. 8 seed, earning that spot in 2014 and 2016. However this year, many national publications are forecasting the No. 24 CU squad to earn its highest seeding yet. Here’s a look:

  • ESPN places CU , matching up against the winner of Purdue and Memphis.
  • CBS Sports has the in the West against No. 12 SF Austin.
  • SB Nation has with a potential matchup against No. 10 Mississippi State.
  • NCAA.com’s Andy Katz has in the West against No. 11 Tulsa.
  • USA Today has Colorado at the against No. 11 Xavier.
  • Meanwhile, NBC Sports has in the South against No. 10 Oklahoma.
