and had high hopes after their final season of college football. Neither running back was drafted. Both wound up in LIV.

The two share a bond, having made it to football’s biggest stage the hard way. When Sunday’s game was over they met up, two winners no matter what the scoreboard said. The emotional exchange was documented by NFL Films.

“We came a long way,” said Williams, who ran for a game-high 104 yards and one touchdown. Mostert led the 49ers with 58 yards rushing. He, too, scored a touchdown.

“Let me get that,” Mostert said, indicating Williams’ jersey. Williams peeled it off and gave it to his friend. Context: Jersey exchanges between athletes — especially football, basketball and soccer players — has become a ritual over the past few years. That said, check out the look on Williams as he hands over his jersey. He appears to be conflicted.

“We dogs, thatap what we do,” Williams replied. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” Mostert said. “Congrats.”

Flash forward to “Jimmy Kimmel  Live!” Tuesday night when, according to clutchpoints.com, Williams admitted he would like his jersey back.

Understandable.

Mostert was more than happy to comply for his friend. But not before a laugh or two.
