Snow showers are forecast for most of the Denver metro area Friday with some places along the Interstate 25 corridor getting blasted with heavy snow, forecasters said.
Snowfall rates between 1-2 inches per hour could hit a few areas of the Front Range late Friday morning or afternoon, said the National Weather Service in Boulder.
It will remain cloudy, with a high temperature near 32 degrees in Denver, the NWS said.
There is a decreasing chance for snow Friday night. New snow accumulation of less than an inch is possible through the night until early Saturday morning.
The northern and central mountains could get between 8 and 18 inches of new snow on Friday, the NWS said. Widespread blowing snow is expected.

The Denver metro area will be mostly sunny on Saturday with a high temperature of about 47 degrees.
But late Saturday night, there’s a 30 percent chance of more snow, with less than a half inch of new snow accumulation possible. The low temperature will be about 22 degrees, the NWS said.
The chance for snow increases to 50 percent on Sunday, when the high temperature will be near 29 degrees, forecasters said. Snow is also possible on Monday.
