A 56-year-old skier from Texas died Friday after suffering a heart attack at Breckenridge Ski Resort, according to the Summit County Coroner’s office.

Stephen William Piche, of Austin, Texas, apparently suffered the heart attack while skiing on an expert trail on Peak 9, officials said. He died of natural causes, Chief Deputy Coroner Amber Flenniken said in an email.

Piche was found around 3:47 p.m. at the bottom of an ungroomed trail, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. He was covered in snow in a creek bed and was not breathing, according to the sheriff’s office.

Ski patrol responded, and the man was taken to Breckenridge Medical Center, where he died.

In a statement, the ski resort offered condolences to the man’s family.

A second man, 53-year-old Frank Maimone, of Philadelphia, also died after a skiing accident this weekend. He was found unresponsive on the slopes at Steamboat Resort around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
