Poor visibility in the metro area is prompting indoor burning restrictions, and health officials are urging people to curtail driving for the next 24 hours.

Those with respiratory issues or cardiopulmonary illnesses are urged to reduce prolonged and heavy exertion.

An is in effect for the from 4 p.m. Monday to 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

“Poor visibility and an exceedance of the state visibility standard are expected on Tuesday,” the CDPHE said in a winter air quality forecast. “Otherwise, good or moderate air quality conditions are expected.”

No additional air quality advisories are in effect for the metro area, according to the Winter High Pollution Advisory Program.Carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide concentrations are expected to be in the “Good” category on Monday and Tuesday.
