A Loveland police community service officer was caught on camera texting with both hands while driving, and the police department says it’s “addressing the situation.”
The video, posted Tuesday afternoon on Facebook, prompted an uproar from community members, wondering how law enforcement can hand out tickets while conducting the same dangerous business behind the wheel.
On Wednesday, Loveland police said in a it was aware of the video and but did not specify how the situation was being addressed. A police spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
Texting while driving is punishable by fine under Colorado law. Lawmakers last month proposed making it illegal for adults to use a hand-held phone while driving.
And what about the person who took the video on the road? The man who posted it on Facebook said on the social media site he was in the backseat of a car when he filmed the officer.
