Denver weather: Strong chance for afternoon rain, thunderstorms

Next week temperatures will be in the high 80s

Stormy weather is forecast in Denver Thursday with afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms.

There’s a 50% chance of rain and thunder, mainly after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.

Rain is likely Friday afternoon, and possibly a thunderstorm, the NWS said. It will be partly sunny, with a high temperature of about 71 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 70%, the weather service said.

On Saturday, there’s a 30% chance of afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms. It will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 70 degrees, the NWS said.

Mostly sunshine is expected Sunday, when the high temperature will be about 80 degrees.

Tuesday and Wednesday weather in Denver will be almost identical with mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of about 88 degrees both days.

There’s a slight chance of rain showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday, when the high temperature will be near 84 degrees.
