Denver weather: Very warm day ahead with possibility of afternoon thunderstorms

Temperatures expected to reach high 80s, low 90s all week, according to forecasters

Denver should see a very warm day Sunday with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of afternoon rain showers or thunderstorms, according to National Weather Service forecasters in Boulder.

Sunday’s high is forecast to reach near 88 degrees before dropping back down to an overnight low of 62, according to the weather service.

There’s a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., decreasing to a 30% chance of precipitation in the evening until about 11 p.m., the National Weather Service forecast said.

In a , the weather service predicted “scattered storms moving from mountains in the afternoon to the plains by evening. Small hail, gusty winds, brief heavy rain possible.”

Monday’s forecast is similar, with a high of 90 expected and a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms after noon, the weather service said. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 80s or early 90s all this week, with a chance or slight chance of rain each afternoon.
