All eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 reopened after they were closed because of a fatal crash Sunday near the exit for Empire and U.S. 40, according to Colorado State Patrol.

The crash was reported around noon and the interstate was reopened shortly after 2 p.m. Authorities expect to see heavy residual delays in the area into the early evening.

During the shutdown, passenger vehicles were rerouted to County Road 308, according to state patrol, while commercial vehicles remained on the interstate.
