Why are you seeking public office?
Worked nearly 40 years at various levels in 2 counties. Have been HD chair or 32 in past. Wanted somebody with our core principal values to run, after much prayer decided to run.
What will your top three priorities be if elected?
Individual rights (along with parental) good education, small businesses.
We are the greatest country in the world but among the top seventeen countries in the world we rank last (but highest in self worth). Yes that’s last, even though we spend the most per student than any other country in the world. Maybe we ought to check out some of those systems and see why they do so much better than we instead of kowtowing to the cea’s.
Do you support some type of public option health insurance or Medicare for All at the state level? If so, which and why? If not, why not?
Medicare for all is a one size fits all insurance that ends up being more expensive and reduces ingenuity. Prefer choice and specialized plans. Would try to limit any governmental intrusion as much as I can. Free markets can do a better job!
Have your views on policing and racism in Colorado changed this year? If so, how?
Policing is a noble profession. Look at the police personnel and firemen that went into the twin towers to save people but lost their own lives. If you look at statistics they do not bear out the premise of police brutality being a problem in the black community. Some of the cases where riots broke out it was later proved that the perpetrator was indeed a criminal or so high to cause him to do dumb things. One had just been involved in robbing gas station store. The media never lets us know exactly what happens.
Do you place a greater importance on addressing climate change or preserving Colorado’s oil and gas industry? What steps would you take on these issues as a lawmaker?
Climate change has been a hoax since the beginning. All past warnings have been an utter flop. The current rage is based on illegitimate computer models, sometimes faked, almost always fudged. To say they base their predictions is “scientific” shows the ignorance of many journalists and others promoting “global warning” which had to be changed to “Global climate change” because it was not overall warming. For something to qualify as scientific it MUST BE REPEATABLE! ! Preserving our economy and the health of our citizens is definitely a priority.
Should Colorado consider any new gun laws? If so, which do you support?
I find it fascinating that the area that have the most gun violence are the ones that have by far the strictest gun laws. The bad guys somehow seem to find ways to get guns, but those who have the right to bear arms are restricted. Makes a whole lot of nonsense. The public is being told to just hand over anything looters they want, and be sure you carry money on you so they don’t get mad that you don’t have any on you when they rob you. And when a man and a woman protect their own house they are the ones arrested. Nonsense! I would stop the constant eroding of our constitutional rights.
Why are you seeking public office?
What do you call a good lawyer gone bad? A politician. All jokes aside, the state assembly needs more working people in office and less lawyers. The libertarian values I hold better represent the spirit of Colorado and I hope to apply them to bills considered by the legislature.
What will your top three priorities be if elected?
End the extended unconstitutional emergency powers related to COVID-19, the legislature should vote and the governor has overstepped his original emergency orders. Improve the public transportation infrastructure (CDOT & RTD). Increase revenue for public education by separating the budget from the general fund.
Do you support some type of public option health insurance or Medicare for All at the state level? If so, which and why? If not, why not?
Maybe, the distinction between health insurance and healthcare is often blurred. No one has ever been turned away from emergency care and that should remain the law. Conversely taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for people who do not take care of themselves and suffer from preventable chronic disease.
Have your views on policing and racism in Colorado changed this year? If so, how?
I support law enforcement, but some laws are not reasonable including no knock raids which is actually an ambush. We should not put police officers in harm’s way unless absolutely necessary.
Do you place a greater importance on addressing climate change or preserving Colorado’s oil and gas industry? What steps would you take on these issues as a lawmaker?
I am generally more supportive of the energy industry, but I realize that some regulation for the health and safety of communities and workers must be implemented; including offsets for wells and laws regarding transportation of hazardous materials.
Should Colorado consider any new gun laws? If so, which do you support?
No, there should be less laws regarding gun rights.
