While high winds and dry conditions fueled wildfires across the state on Saturday, Sunday’s weather should be slightly better for fire fighting.
Today’s weather is expected to be one of the the coolest days of the week with temperatures rising to just 55 degrees and dropping to a low of 37 tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It should be mostly cloudy today before clearing up this evening, the NWS reports.
While , higher relative humidity and lower winds should be more favorable for crews working on the CalWood fire near Boulder and the Cameron Peak fire near Fort Collins.
The National Weather Service has issued an until 4 p.m. Sunday. Smoke from the CalWood and Cameron Peak fires are expected to impact Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld counties. The NWS recommends limiting driving and staying indoors, especially in the communities closest to the fires.

The rest of this week should be warmer with temperatures hitting the mid-70s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday should be slightly cooler with a high of 64 and a low around 30 degrees.
Friday and Saturday will continue a cooler trend with highs of 53 and 62, respectively.
