Police in Denver are looking for a driver who drove a pickup with a dog leashed to the rear of the vehicle, dragging the animal, which died from injuries.

The incident happened about 3 p.m. Monday in the southbound lanes of South Platte River Drive at West Mississippi Avenue. Witnesses got the driver to stop the truck, and two men then fled in the vehicle, leaving the dog behind. The dog was taken to an animal hospital and was pronounced dead.

The pickup, with an extended cab, had a temporary tag in the rear window behind the driver’s seat.

Anyone with information on the incident or a suspect is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 (STOP).
