Pray for sweeps.
Unless both the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets sweep their respective playoff series, Game 5 of the Nuggets-Trail Blazer series will be on NBA TV, which means most of Denver will be facing another blackout situation.
Game 3, which the Nuggets won 120-115 on Thursday night, was available as an exclusive broadcast on Altitude to DirecTV subscribers. The game was also broadcast side-by-side on NBA TV, which was subject to blackout restrictions in Denver.
The Nuggets could be headed for the same miserable scenario again.
If all four series (Brooklyn-Boston, L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, Milwaukee-Miami and Denver-Portland) go at least five games, the Nuggets will be on NBA TV on June 1st. The Lakers-Suns series (2-1) and the Nuggets-Blazers series (2-1) is already guaranteed to go at least five games.
If Milwaukee sweeps Miami, but the other three series last at least five games, the Nuggets will still be on NBA TV. If Brooklyn sweeps Boston, but the other three series go at least five, Denver will still be relegated to NBA TV.
The only chance Game 5 of Denver-Portland isn’t on NBA TV is if both Milwaukee and Brooklyn sweep their respective series. In that case, the Nuggets would be on TNT, which isn’t blacked out in the Denver region.
