A Denver police officer working a traffic accident on Interstate 25 was hit by a suspected intoxicated driver overnight Friday into Saturday.
The officer was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The officer was investigating a crash and out of a patrol vehicle when hit, according to police. The driver who hit the officer fled the scene, near Colfax Avenue, but later was taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
