The snowless streak may be coming to an end. Light snow was falling downtown Friday morning, dusting the city for the first time this season.
Latest update and expected additional snow amounts from the latest winter storm moving into Colorado.
Highest impacts in the mountains with hazardous/ difficult travel, but a band of light snow and slick spots possible on the plains for this morning's commute.— NWS Boulder (@NWSBoulder)
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver should expect about a half-inch of snow Friday morning. The wintery day will reach 34 degrees as the skies gradually clear. Wind gusts could reach over 20 mph in the afternoon.
The cold front that moved in brings much colder temperatures, winds and snow to the urban corridor and the surrounding area. For the hills, snow and blowing snow will continue this morning, then gradually decrease this afternoon. Strong and gusty downslope winds could blow up to 60 mph along the higher exposed eastern slopes. While light snow only fell in the city, up to two feet fell in some mountainous terrain creating hazardous driving conditions.
Overnight Friday will be mostly clear, with a low of 15 degrees. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.
Itap…actually, finally snowing in Denver!
(Lightly. Low impact. May not even reach 0.1” officially at DIA.)
