Forecasters woke up Thursday morning, double-checked the storm coming in, and called for a Winter Weather Advisory. More snow is going to fall than forecasters initially thought.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, light snowfall will develop over the Interstate 25 corridor and foothills Thursday morning and move south into the metro area by late morning. Between two and four inches of snow is expected to fall, with higher amounts possible in the foothills. Like Tuesday’s storm, the timing of snowfall is overlapping with the morning commute, creating travel headaches. Winds could gust up to 35 mph.

Denver will get its snow mainly before 4 p.m. Forecasters warn that it could be heavy at times, accumulating up to four inches. The temperature will top out at 28 degrees before falling to 12 degrees overnight.

Friday will warm to 45 degrees under the sun, giving us some melting of the week’s snow before a nighttime low of 22 degrees.

Most melting will happen over the weekend, with sunny highs in the 50s.
