Climber dies in Eldorado Canyon State Park when he falls about 400 feet

A climber died Thursday in Eldorado Canyon State Park in a 300- to 400-foot fall.

Authorities were alerted about the fall at about 2:20 p.m., according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

The 48-year-old man was descending the back side of the Bastille Wall when he fell, witnesses told investigators. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the identification of the man, as well as the cause and manner of his death.
