A woman was injured in a road-rage incident that escalated into a shooting Thursday morning in Commerce City.

Police found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound around 9 a.m. in an alley in the 6200 block of Kearney Street, according to a news release from the Commerce City Police Department. The woman was transported to a local hospital.

Investigators believe the victim was involved in a road-rage incident with another woman that began elsewhere. The incident ended when the women’s two vehicles crashed in the 6200 block of Kearney Street.

“Both drivers exited their vehicles and a female suspect shot the victim,” according to the news release. “The female suspect fled from the scene.”

On Thursday afternoon police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Destenie Edwards, who is also known as Destenie Salazar. She is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder and is considered armed and dangerous.
