Thursday morning was the coldest Denver has been in the month of March since 1960. Thankfully, temperatures will soon warm, and the few inches of snow the metro area received will melt. But first, more cold.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver will warm from a record low of -7 degrees early Thursday to a high of 21; the old record of -3 for March 10 was set in 1932. There’s a slight chance of flurries in the morning, accumulating less than half an inch of snow. The day will be overcast, and the evening will again be frigid, with a low of 3 degrees.
If Denver does drop near zero into Friday morning, the mercury could break a record set in 1948 for the coldest temperature on March 11, set at -5 degrees. The day should be clear and warm to above freezing, with temperatures into the mid-30s. The low Friday night will dip under 20 degrees.
The average low for this time of year is 26 degrees and the average high is in the mid-50s. NWS says that conditions will remain dry over the weekend, with Denver warming up above normal temperatures. Highs Saturday and Sunday should be around 60 degrees. There’s a chance of flurries Sunday evening, but the area will stay warmer next week.
