Denver’s pleasant weekend weather will continue into Monday, but a storm that could bring snow is on the way.
According to the National Weather Service, Denver will reach a high of 81 degrees on Monday under partly sunny skies. The record high for Monday is 83 degrees, set in 1963. The average high for this time of year is only 59 degrees.
Wind gusts of about 15 mph will cool things down a bit later Monday as overnight temperatures drop to 46 degrees. A red flag warning is in place for southeast portions of the state. Dry conditions around the state have elevated fire conditions.
The next storm system arrives Tuesday with colder and unsettled weather, and even a chance of a little snow down into the lower elevations by Tuesday night. Mountains should see several inches with locally slick travel over the higher passes.

The warm weather begins to change on Tuesday. First, a high of 59 degrees is forecast, then showers are likely, and even a thunderstorm is possible after 4 p.m. Winds could gust to 21 mph, and the chance of precipitation is 70%.
Those showers could turn into snow around midnight as the low dips to 30 degrees. The evening will be blustery, with a 90% chance of precipitation, accumulating up to half an inch of snow. The foothills and Palmer Divide could see 2 to 5 inches of snow. Slick and slushy roads are possible Tuesday and into Wednesday, with wind gusts of more than 40 mph around the foothills likely on Wednesday.
The chance of snow lasts through Wednesday until about 4 p.m., when any remaining flakes will switch back to rain. The high is forecasted at 51 degrees with a 40% chance of precipitation. Winds could again gust over 20 mph in the city again.
Then another system will bring mountain snow Thursday and Friday with a chance of precipitation around the metro area.
