Red flag warnings are back this afternoon for much of the Front Range as temperatures are expected to rise and winds are forecast to be 11 mph to 16 mph with gusts up to 23 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists expect to see mostly sunny skies and a high of 79 degrees today in Denver, with warm temperatures continuing through the week.

Winds are expected to stay strong through the night, causing further concern for high fire danger.

The red flag warnings are in place from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday, covering the foothills, the Cheyenne Ridge and the Palmer Divide. The lower elevations of Boulder, Jefferson and Broomfield counties were added to the red flag zone on Tuesday morning, with much of southeastern Colorado also under extreme fire danger.

The warm, windy weather in the plains is expected to be relieved Tuesday night by scattered snow storms and colder weather.

The National Weather Service calls for a high near 72 under sunny skies on Wednesday, with temperatures climbing even higher through the workweek. Thursday’s forecast high is 79 and Friday’s is near 81, according to the weather service.

The next chance of rain comes Friday night and Saturday. The high on Saturday should drop to around 59, with a chance of rain until 11 p.m., followed by a chance of rain and show between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. Sunday, and a slight chance of snow showers after 3 a.m. Sunday.

The high on Sunday is expected to reach 56, with a chance of rain and snow continuing through the day and evening, when the low should drop to around 35.
