More showers and thunderstorms are expected in Denver today before sunnier, warmer weather returns for the week, the National Weather Service said.

Snow is expected to fall over the mountains south of Interstate 70 Tuesday, reaching 3 to 6 inches of snow accumulation.

The weather is expected to reach a high of 56 degrees under cloudy skies as the wind reaches between 5 and 9 mph. Chances of rain increase after 4 p.m., the weather service said.

Sunny weather is expected to return after a week of storms on Wednesday, with a high of 71 degrees.

Denver is forecast to warm up to 82 degrees on Thursday before jumping up to a high of 89 degrees on Friday.
