Temperatures will remain in the 90s in metro Denver on Thursday with a chance of rain, but Colorado’s Eastern Plains will be scorching with highs expected to reach 104.
The National Weather Service is anticipating high temperatures of 104 in Julesberg, Holyoke and Wray, 102 in Fort Morgan and 101 in Sterling and Akron.
“Afternoon storms will bring relief from the heat,” the National Weather Service’s Boulder office said in a tweet. “The stronger storms will produce heavy rain and wind gusts to 50 mph.”
In Denver, forecasters are calling for a high of 96 on Thursday with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, most likely after 2 p.m. Conditions look to be partly cloudy as the day progresses.
Overnight, temperatures will fall to a low of around 67, where there is roughly a 50% chance of precipitation, mostly before 9 p.m.

Friday’s forecast calls for similar conditions in Denver to those of Thursday, with high temperatures and a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
The weather service expects sunny, mostly clear skies mid-morning, but cloudier conditions as the day goes on.
Friday’s high is expected to hit 94. The weather service says that there is a 60% chance of precipitation, most likely between noon and 3 p.m.
Temperatures will drop to an overnight low of around 65 degrees.
The chance of precipitation over the weekend is low, with expected highs in the upper-90s.
