Forecasters expect Monday to be the warmest day of the week with a high of 90. But the Denver metro area is in store for cooler highs and an increased chance of rain throughout the week, a change of pace after the recent bouts of oppressive heat.
A 12-day streak of highs reaching at least 90 degrees — tied for the — ended Sunday when the Mile High City saw a high of 87, according to the National Weather Service.
Although rain is possible Monday, mainly after noon, the weather service says there is only a 20% chance. Light winds can be expected after noon with gusts up to 15 mph. The overnight low is expected to be 64.
After Monday, temperatures are expected to drop and the chance of storms to rise.
A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms is in Tuesday’s forecast. The expected high is 86.
Wednesday will bring a forecast high of 89 as well as a 30% chance of storms.
As the week goes on, conditions will only get cooler.
Thursday’s forecast calls for a high of 79 with showers likely throughout the day.
Friday will be slightly warmer with an expected high of 81 and a high likelihood of precipitation.
