After a hot and dry start to the week, forecasters expect Tuesday’s temperatures in metro Denver to dip slightly while bringing heightened chances of rain.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for a high of 88 degrees with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.
According to a tweet from the National Weather Service in Boulder, Tuesday’s storms may bring “brief moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds to 50 mph and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.”

Temperatures are expected to drop overnight to a low of 63 with mostly cloudy conditions and an ongoing chance of rain.
Forecasters expect Wednesday to mark the week’s last extremely hot day, as a high of 91 is expected.
Wednesday’s forecast looks mostly clear and sunny, though there will be a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
After Wednesday, the Denver metro area will cool off considerably.
Thursday’s high isn’t expected to exceed 78 degrees while Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 80.
Thursday afternoon could bring showers and thunderstorms. The weather service says that storms are likely again Friday and into the weekend.
