2. Valor Christian (0-1) lost vs. No. 4 Regis Jesuit, 23-17, OT. Gabe Sawchuk and Roman Bradley both ran in touchdowns, with the latter putting the Eagles ahead 17-10 with 3:24 left in the third quarter, but they didn’t score again and eventually lost in overtime. 4. Regis Jesuit (1-0) won at No. 2 Valor Christian, 23-17, OT. The Raiders got long touchdowns from Albert Medina (51 yards) and D’andre Barnes (73), and Exander Carroll found Grayson McPherson for a 10-yard TD reception in the first overtime to beat Valor in dramatic fashion. 5. Columbine (1-0) won vs. Mullen, 42-19. The Rebels broke open a 14-13 game with three straight touchdowns between the second and third quarters, including a kickoff return to begin the second half, to pull away from the Mustangs. Next week: at 4A No. 3 Dakota Ridge, 7 p.m. Sept. 2
6. Ralston Valley (0-1) lost vs. No. 1 Cherry Creek, 35-21. Jackson Hansen scored a pair of touchdowns, the last on a 62-yard hookup with quarterback Logan Madden that tied the game at 21-all, but a late pick-6 kept the Mustangs from mounting one last comeback. 7. Pine Creek (1-0) won at Las Vegas, 43-3. Jonathan Coar and Mason Miller each ran in a pair of touchdowns, and Cameron Cooper threw for one score and ran for another as the Eagles marched out of Sin City with a blowout win. Next week: at No. 2 Valor Christian, 7 p.m. Sept. 2
8. Legend (1-0) won at 4A No. 6 Vista Ridge, 47-43. The Titans rallied from a 15-0 hole in the first quarter to survive a shootout against Arizona-bound quarterback Brayden Dorman. Next week: vs. Pomona, 7 p.m. Sept. 1
9. Arvada West (0-1) lost at ThunderRidge, 34-28. Alex Kambesis scored from 15 yards out on a draw up the middle with 6:32 left in the game, and the Grizzlies defense made it hold up in an upset. A-West quarterback Ethan Cook had three touchdown passes in the loss, while Adrian Symalla added a TD run, but a late turnover on the Wildcats’ end of the field set up Kambesis’ game-winning score. 10. Arapahoe (1-0) won vs. Legacy, 10-3. The Warriors held the Lightning scoreless over the final three quarters and QB Michael Moynihan found Charlie Eckhard for an 8-yard TD pass in the first quarter, as Arapahoe handed Jay Madden a loss in his debut as Legacy head coach. 1. Erie (0-1) lost vs. No. 7 Ponderosa, 39-27. Quarterback Blake Barnett threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another, but the Tigers defense had no answer for the Mustangs. Next week: at Mullen, 6 p.m. Sept. 2
2. Montrose (0-1) lost vs. No. 4 Palmer Ridge, 35-28. The Red Hawks were put in a 14-0 hole early in the first half, and played catch-up the rest of the game. Montrose pulled within a touchdown four times but never closed the gap. Next week: at No. 10 Fruita Monument, 1 p.m. Sept. 1
3. Dakota Ridge (0-1) lost at No. 9 Pueblo West, 21-14. Brandon Miller had an eight-yard touchdown grab and Noah Triplett punched one in from two yards out, but the Eagles were unable to come out of Pueblo with a W. Next week: vs. 5A No. 5 Columbine, 7 p.m. Sept. 2
4. Palmer Ridge (1-0) won at No. 2 Montrose, 35-28. The Bears avenged last year’s 28-21 regular-season loss with a late stop in its own red zone to hold on for the victory. Next week: vs. Mesa Ridge, 7 p.m. Sept. 2
5. Loveland (0-1) lost at Fossil Ridge, 36-35. The Red Wolves took a 35-29 lead midway through the fourth quarter on Trey Olsen’s five-yard TD run and Garrett Harstad’s two-point conversion. But the Fossil Ridge defense got a stop with Loveland trying to salt away the game, QB Tyler Kubat connected with Trek Keyworth for a 24-yard touchdown pass, and Bryce Olson drilled the ensuing extra point to push the 5A SaberCats past Loveland. 6. Vista Ridge (0-1) lost vs. 5A No. 8 Legend, 47-43. Turnovers doomed the Wolves as an early two-touchdown lead slipped away against the 5A Titans. Vista Ridge’s final TD pass of the night, and subsequent two-point conversion, pulled them within four with less than two minutes to go, but they were unable to recover the ensuing onside kick. 7. Ponderosa (1-0) won at No. 1 Erie, 39-27. Mustangs quarterback Zach Stryker had two touchdowns passing and one on the ground, Ethan Rodriguez added scoring runs of four and 25 yards, and Lyam Edwards returned a kickoff 99 yards to the house to pull off a stunner at Erie. 8. Broomfield (1-0) won vs. Longmont, 47-14. The Eagles scored four touchdowns in the first half to take a 26-6 lead into halftime and never looked back. Next week: vs. Holy Family, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2
9. Pueblo West (2-0) won vs. No. 3 Dakota Ridge, 21-14. Jacob Trader busted loose for a 30-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to secure an upset victory for the Cyclones. Trader also scored on a 16-yard completion from Gavin Lockett earlier in the half, before Dakota Ridge tied things up early in the fourth. Next week: at Pueblo County, 7 p.m. Sept. 2
