At least one person has died and another sustained life-threatening injuries in an early Monday morning tractor-trailer crash that ignited one of the trucks and closed Interstate 70 westbound entirely near the Kansas border for several hours.
One lane of the interstate has since reopened,
The crash was reported just before 5 a.m. near Burlington, Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis said. Two tractor-trailers collided and one of the vehicles caught fire.
The driver of one of the trucks, a 25-year-old Louisiana man, was stuck in his truck for some time and sustained life-threatening injuries, Lewis said, and another occupant of his truck, a 55-year-old Mississippi man, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Lewis said they were still gathering information on the driver and possible occupants of the other truck. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Westbound I-70 is closed between the Kansas border and Burlington. Alternate route advised.
