Gun shots fired in Denver hit two vehicles during evening commute; no passersby injured

Gun shots were fired on Tuesday in Denver during the evening commute, in the bustling area of Colfax Avenue and Broadway, hitting two vehicles but no passersby, police said.

Two men exchanged gunfire with a third man and all three fled the scene, police said on Twitter.

Two vehicles were hit, but no one in the vehicles were injured, police said. It’s unknown if the men who exchanged gunfire were struck. An investigation is ongoing.

Two people were arrested later Tuesday evening; one was arrested on suspicion of a weapons violation and the other was released. Police said it is unknown if the arrested person was connected to the incident.
