A man was arrested after an Aurora police officer shot at him following armed encounters at a gas station, a fast food restaurant and an apartment, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release.
Just before midnight Monday, officers were called to the 7-Eleven at 599 S. Airport Blvd. for reports of shots fire in the store. The store clerk told officers a man with a handgun came into the store and fired at least one round inside.
As the man left the store, he got into a confrontation with another customer in the parking lot and fired more rounds.
No one was injured, police said, and the man drove away in a car.
Officers then learned the same man threatened someone with the gun at the Burger King across the street at 620 S. Buckley Rd. before going to 7-Eleven.
Just after midnight, a 911 caller in the 18000 block of East Kentucky Avenue reported a man shot through the front door of the apartment.
Multiple people, including children, were inside, but no one was injured.
Officers at that scene found the same car that had left the 7-Eleven, and the 911 caller described the same man from the 7-Eleven and Burger King incidents, police said.
Officers then began searching the area. An officer found the man and shot at him, but he was not injured, police said.
The man was taken into custody and arrested on 12 counts of attempted murder, two counts of menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
The Critical Incident Response Team for the 18th Judicial District responded and will be investigating the shooting, police said.
