Human remains were found Thursday in a field near Thornton High School, police said.

The remains appear to have been there for some time, and there is no current danger to the public associated with the find, police said in a 2:43 p.m. tweet.
Police released photographs of the taped-off scene, and an investigator can be seen in an open field, with brush and trees, behind the outfield fence of a baseball field.
The outdoor death “does not appear to be school related,” police said. An investigation is ongoing.
