Keystone Resort will open Friday with two trails and hike-to access to a terrain park, becoming Colorado’s second area to open for the season.

Arapahoe Basin opened on Sunday.

The open trails will be at the top of the mountain (on Schoolmarm and Silver Spoon), served by the Montezuma Express lift. The terrain park is on Spring Dipper. The River Run Gondola will transport skiers from the base to the summit, and at the end of the day, skiers and riders will download to the base area via gondola.

Free doughnuts and hot cocoa will be offered to guests who arrive early on Friday, and a DJ will be pumping out tunes at the mountain’s summit.

Hours of operation initially will be from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Night skiing will return on weekends and holidays, starting Thanksgiving weekend.

“We are beyond excited to kick off the winter season here at Keystone,” said Chris Sorensen, Keystone’s vice president and general manager.
