Two people were stabbed — one fatally — and a third individual was assaulted in Southeast Denver early Wednesday. Police have a suspect in custody.
Police responded about 8 a.m. to the 10100 block of East Harvard Avenue, where they found two women had been stabbed, said on Twitter.
One of the women died at the scene, police said, while the second woman was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
On Thursday night the identified the fatal victim as 20-year-old Taylor Trevino. She died of sharp force injuries and her manner of death is a homicide.
Police also responded Wednesday to an assault a few blocks away at 2500 South Dayton Way where officers detained an adult man and were “working to determine a possible connection between the detained male and the homicide/stabbing,” police said in a tweet.

On Wednesday night police said on Twitter that the detained man is connected to a homicide and an assault. Matthew Omara is being held on investigation of first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and first-degree attempted murder.
