At least four people — including two in Denver and two in Colorado Springs — died during the historic Siberian cold front that hammered Colorado with subzero temperatures this week.

Two outdoor deaths related to environmental exposure have been reported in Denver since Thursday, said Jill Lis, a city spokesperson. The final cause and manner of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.

In Colorado Springs, police found a 42-year-old man in Sand Creek on Thursday near a power transformer for a building, “likely looking for warmth,” a spokesperson said via email. Officers noticed a layer of snow on his belongings, indicating he had been there for some time.

Police also found a second man in an alleyway nearby in the 500 block of Arrawanna Street and transported him to a hospital, authorities said. That second man, whose identity has not been released, died later that day.
