About 20 vehicles broken into in Lone Tree, and investigators are looking for suspects

At least 20 motor vehicles were broken into overnight in Lone Tree and the is urging the public to be vigilant and report incidents.

Investigators believe the break-ins, at two apartment complexes along Park Meadows Drive, began about 9:45 p.m. Sunday and the incidents continued overnight, according to a Douglas County

Many of the vehicles targeted were Honda and Hyundai models, the release said. Some of the vehicles had door locks punched out.

The sheriff’s office said the suspects were driving a silver or gray Kia Sportage that is likely stolen.

Anyone with information on the incidents, or on suspects, is asked to call Detective Tom Vondra at 303-784-7879 or send an email to tvondra@dcsheriff.net. People who see or hear anything suspicious as it unfolds is asked to call 303-660-7500.

Vehicle owners can minimize risks by removing valuables from cars and keeping items out of sight, the sheriff’s office said.
