
Windy weather is expected to impact travel conditions for the rest of the day in Colorado, with speeds from 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph expected.
The National Weather Service released a warning that winds may cause whiteout conditions. The wind is expected to last until 6 p.m.
Most of the Denver metro area is expected to get another 2 to 5 inches of snow Wednesday after a fresh layer of snow dropped overnight.
Most of the area already saw about 2 inches of snowfall overnight, as Denver had 1.8 inches by 3:22 a.m. and Boulder had 2.6 inches by 5 a.m., so Wednesday’s snowfall is likely to double the total for most areas.
The snow’s intensity will increase through daybreak as the main moisture plume moves in.
Colorado Department of Transportation traffic cameras already show partially or fully covered roads, according to the , so the additional snow through Wednesday morning will likely cause even more dangerous driving conditions for the morning commute.
A quick check of cameras shows snow covered roads in spots through the Denver metro. Snow will continue today with deteriorating conditions through the AM. Take it slow!

The winter-storm-warned areas of Douglas County and western Jefferson County will receive another 3 to 8 inches of snow Wednesday.
The snow will shift into eastern Colorado later Wednesday afternoon, then end completely across the state before sunrise Thursday.
Temperatures Wednesday will stay low through the day, as the high is only 17 degrees and the low is 7 degrees. Wind chills could be as low as minus 1 to minus 2 throughout the day as well.
After the snow ends overnight Wednesday, Thursday will see mostly calm weather and temperatures cooler than normal but still warmer than Wednesday. The high is 35 degrees and the low is 14 degrees.
