Girl escapes attempted abduction near Federal Heights Elementary School, police say

A 12-year-old girl in Federal Heights escaped an attempted abduction Tuesday morning, police said.

Just after 8 a.m. the girl was walking near West 96th Avenue and Bryant Drive, near Federal Heights Elementary School, when she was approached by a man, according to the .

The man assaulted the girl and attempted to abduct her, . The victim was able to flee on foot and the suspect also fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect, described by police as a white man and about 5 feet 6 inches tall, was wearing a black hoodie, brown hat and ripped khaki pants. He has a tattoo on his left forearm.
