A fatal crash just east of the Eisenhower Tunnel closed eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 and U.S. 6 near Silverthorne for several hours Tuesday morning.

The Colorado State Patrol at 11:48 a.m. said I-70 eastbound was reopening.

The crash was reported just after 9 a.m. The interstate lanes were closed from U.S. 6 in Silverthorne past Loveland Pass, and U.S. 6 eastbound was closed from Anemone Trail Road to Loveland Pass

The Colorado State Patrol said at least one person died in the crash.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is suggesting drivers use U.S. 40 and U.S. 285 as alternate routes during the closure.
