A man who was serving time at a Colorado state prison in Lincoln County, south of Limon, was killed while in custody this month.

Paul Hack, 65, died on Aug. 17 at the Limon Correctional Facility, and he was pronounced dead at 5:09 p.m., Lincoln County Coroner Andy Lorensen said.

The coroner’s office ruled his death a homicide but said the cause of the death is still pending as the coroner awaits toxicology testing results.

The Colorado Department of Corrections has refused to provide any information about the incident and did not publicly report the homicide, citing an ongoing investigation by the Colorado Department of Correction’s Inspector General’s Office. The incident led to restrictions in the facility, which were lifted on Tuesday.
